    Sixth Grade Students Will:

    • Read works that focus on text complexity and its academic language
    • Extract and employ evidence from text, literary and informational text
    • Build knowledge through content rich non-fiction
    • Write essays by responding to text, including comparison and synthesis of ideas
    • Be introduced to and use Notice and Note Fiction and Non-Fiction as a close reading strategy 
    • Use PVLEGS techniques for speaking in front of a class

Welcome to the new JT 5-6 school. This is my 25th year teaching literacy.  I hope I can make this a fun year of learning for my students. I look forward to meeting the parents for Back to School night on September 15th, 2025 at 6:30 pm.

Note: All announcements, homework, and class work assignments will be posted on the Google Classroom. Students will receive an invitation to the Literacy Google Classroom by the end of the first week of school. Parents will be invited by the end of the second week of school.
