Readers' Workshop can be confusing.  Here are some ways that you can make the most out of it!

Parents often ask me what books are good for my child at their level dealing with this subject.  Here is a list for parents dealing with a wide variety of issues.  Your child will be receiving a Fountas and Pinnel Level upon returning to school in the fall.

Use this graphic organizer to help you understand the main idea of non-fiction articles.

Here is a copy that each student will be filling out as they read their books.  They should keep a copy of this in their Readers' Workshop notebooks and hand one in at the conclusion of each book.

This is a helpful little tool that I created in google docs to help students take notes while they are reading to help them better understand what they have read.  I even use this one myself when I have some difficult subject matter to tackle.
